"Realtors don’t get much in the way of kudos, and they do more for their clients than a lot of people realize. A good one is equal parts therapist, business advisor, negotiator, diplomat, silver-tongue, horse (human) whisperer, cat herder, and pit-bull. You want them on your side. And this particular Realtor deserves ALLLLLL the kudos. We are in a beautiful new home that exceeded anything we ever thought we could get…in the middle of a pandemic. And I exaggerate not at all when I say that without Stephanie Sullivan, this would never, ever have happened. I won’t regale you with the messy, infuriating, craziness of the first place we were going to buy. Know that Stephanie was an indefatigable, intrepid rock who absolutely would have made that happen if we’d insisted. But we listened to the universe and figured out that place was not for us. And moved on. And this new place just sang to us. Stephanie moved heaven and earth to market and sell our place (again – PANDEMIC). And this new place? It was a multiple offer situation where the other offer was…almost identical. Two things got us this place: a letter we wrote to the sellers, which Stephanie insisted we write, and the agent on the other side, who just plain trusted Stephanie to work through the deal with her. And from there, Stephanie talked us off ledges about six times, played go-between for us with the sellers, the agent, the attorneys, and even our mortgage broker when things near the end just got too confusing for us to deal with. She counseled, she smoothed, she ran interference. She made things happen, and when necessary, she played hard-ball. When you want to buy or sell? This is a person you want to work with. We owe her a TON."
So, let's talk about Stephanie. Is she a seller's agent, or a buyer's agent? YES (that's my dramatic way of saying she's both). Six years after buying our first house (which she helped us buy), my family and I outgrew it. We needed to sell our house, and buy a new place, and do it at the exact same time. How was that possible? Stephanie Sullivan. She staged our house so it looked like the beautiful hip gem we always thought it was (she made it look so good we wanted to stay!) She got word of mouth going amongst her peers and potential buyers. She got us beautiful pictures and 360 video, so our potential buyers could imagine walking around inside. And it sold within. . .. 4 hours. With multiple offers. Because she put in the prep work, the hustle, the strategy to sell it. Since she did all that, we could buy comfortably and with more time than we expected; we could find the exact right house for us to move to. And since she got us a price above our listing, we had some more buying room for our new house. Is she a realty ninja? A design and staging genius? A kind, calm, confident hand on the tiller, soothing my selling and buying anxieties? YES. Stephanie is the ideal of a seller's agent, and the ideal of a buyer's agent. I cannot recommend her highly enough. If they had a 6-star rating I'd be clicking on that.
Stephanie Sullivan is truly the best agent I have had the pleasure of working with! She goes above and beyond as a Realtor, communicating every step of the way, explaining the whole process/transaction and being your best advocate. I have worked with many other Realtors and hands-down Stephanie is the best! I highly recommend her! Thank you, Stephanie!
Stephanie was the best! I would highly recommend working with her to anyone. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable and patient with educating me through the whole process. She was also very attentive and always available to answer any of my questions either by text or email. Alan Onchak
I was terrified by the prospect of becoming a first-time homeowner but Stephanie made everything a lot easier than I thought possible. She was extremely patient with me and all those involved in my final decision and was always extremely considerate and honest about every step of the process. I never felt any pressure whatsoever and knew I could count on her giving me unbiased feedback about each home we viewed. We went through the arduous process of bidding on 2 different foreclosures and losing to bidding wars, but each time Stephanie stayed on top of the other realtors (who were frustratingly aloof at times). Each time she gave me solid advice on how to handle the flurry of bidding and reassured me that if I put my best bid forward and lost, it was not meant to be. Well, she was right and losing out on those homes was a blessing because the home I finally purchased was superior in every way. She dealt with my OCD texting and googling and I never once felt like she was annoyed with me. Basically, Stephanie is a dream-come-true of a realtor and I will be using her in the future for all my buying and selling needs. Megan Russell, Logan Square
If you are a first-time home buyer, I highly recommend that you request Stephanie as your real-estate agent. Stephanie is both timely and informative in her responses to questions and concerns. She will patiently walk you through all of the steps of purchasing a home, be honest in her assessments of the properties you view, and the current status of the home-buying marketplace. She can also put you in touch with dependable lenders, inspectors and real estate lawyers, should you need them. Or she will work with the people you bring to the table. Whatever level of involvement you want to have in the process, Stephanie will accommodate you. If you are an experienced home-buyer, I'm sure you will be satisfied with Stephanie's performance as well, but the first-time buyer will find her experience, expertise and patience invaluable as well. Stephen Loch
Stephanie is an outstanding realtor in every way. I was planning my downsizing move back to the city, and needed some time to get my head around what was really important (view, view!) and what I could afford. Stephanie put me on the search engine and I had many properties to consider in a specific neighborhood I knew I wanted to live in. We went on a number of showings over a period of more than six months (not too many, I hope!). Each time I was able to refine my needs and financial abilities, and when we found the right place, it all happened very fast! Saw the apartment in early February, closed in mid March. I have been involved in home purchase a number of times and also have been a developer, so have experience with a fair number of realtors. Stephanie gets an "A Plus" in every area. She is professional, positive, energetic, and assertive while remaining pleasant. Anything I asked her, I had a response so fast it made my head spin! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a new home - she is the best! Jean Joslyn
I just wanted to write you a quick note to thank you again for all of your help this past year finding and closing on our dream home. Your responsiveness and knowledgeable recommendations have made the whole process truly enjoyable. Thank you also for the bottle of wine. Jess and I had a picnic on the living room floor, to which it was a lovely addition. We're only a week into construction, and already the house looks completely transformed. I look forward to sharing the finished product. Thanks again for everything. I hope you'll keep us posted on any upcoming shows! Sincerely, Rob and Jess
We worked with Stephanie to purchase a multi-unit building in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago in 2012. As first time buyers we were a little nervous and not quite sure what to expect, but Stephanie guided us through the process with professionalism and patience. We found her to be an enthusiastic and competent advocate on our behalf throughout the purchase and wouldnât hesitate to use her again in the future. Sincerely, Mark Kennedy
Stephanie was terrific. We were not the most focused of clients - we were moving back to the States after 16 years in Europe, newly empty-nesters and hadn't really figured out what we wanted. Stephanie rolled with the punches, always positive and professional. She was always focused on identifying the best solution for us and we couldn't be happier with the result. I highly recommend Stephanie. An awesome agent! R. Small
My husband and I were relocating to a new city and needed to sell our condo as quickly as possible. Our friend recommended Stephanie to us. We are so glad he did! We were very impressed with her professionalism and knowledge of the area considering the market conditions. She used this knowledge and no how and obtain an offer 10 days after listing our condo. We can't thank her enough! If you need someone who is on your side and who understands the issues, Stephanie is the person for you! Julie Minnick Bowden
All I can say is if you are not working with Stephanie Sullivan I don't know what you are doing. She is BY FAR the best agent that I have ever worked with. I have purchased a few homes in my lifetime as well used to be a mortgage broker and she surpasses every agent that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. If you ask any question about the home, schools, area that you are looking at she will give you the best breakdown of all of your questions you have ever seen. I can't even begin to say thank you enough for how good Stephanie is. She is smart, savvy, reliable, friendly and patient. When I say that you will be BEYOND happy for having Stephanie as your agent is an understatement. You will get the best experience with Stephanie as your agent. If I ever buy again or ever asked I will ONLY recommend Stephanie. 5 stars *****... reach out to Stephanie before you sign with another agent. She will blow you away. John W. Guthrie, Aurora
A long and hard fought battle, but at the end of the day I am now a homeowner thanks to Stephanie Sullivan and Dream Town Realty! Stephanie was an absolute pleasure to work with. You are missing out if you don't request her immediately. Stephanie was always on time, enthusiastic and overflowing with positivity every step of the way. She made it her mission to find the exact right house for my family and I. When we came close a few times and things just weren't right, Stephanie took great notes and found properties that had exactly what we were looking for. Side note, our lender, lawyer, and the other real estate agent on this closing all said that Stephanie was a pleasure to work with...and those are people that you want to schmooze up to make a great deal! Which Stephanie did. If you are looking to buy or rent, give Stephanie a call and not only will you find the home of your dreams, you will have top notch customer service all along the way. Matt and Lisa Russell, Schaumburg
A very belated Thank You to you for all your hard work! Thanks for making our dream come true. Your advice was invaluable and we always felt like we were in good hands. Thanks for making all the "bad news" more bearable and for being honest about the reality of what we were in for. We are really enjoying our new home. The boys have made some new friends and our neighbors are very friendly (I'm not so sure how I feel about all the extra rooms to clean!) I'm glad you're getting some well deserved time off. Vincenza and Jason
I have been looking for condo for over a year - I had very unsuccessful experiences with other agents. When I found Stephanie and she send me my first condos to look at it - I was amazed. I have never had such an accurate agent before. You tell her what you are looking for and she sends you only places that you are interested in. No junk, customized search, etc. I finally found my condo! I also noticed that she is very helpful, caring, and aggressive in business and she knows how to win and make even the hardest deals lead to the successful ending. Thank You Stephanie - You are the best. I will hire you for my dream house in the future too. Ania Kurczynska, Montclare
We initially were quite overwhelmed with the concept of purchasing a home but once we met with Stephanie Sullivan, we knew we were in the right hands. Stephanie very calmly and patiently explained the whole process and later we looked at several condos of varying sizes, styles, and locations. Though we never imagined we could afford a house in our budget, Stephanie managed to find and help us buy the one of our dreams and without going over budget. She was very knowledgeable and was reachable at any time for all of our questions. She also referred us to a wonderful inspector, lawyer, and lending agent, which made the whole process much easier than we ever imagined. We very highly recommend Stephanie! Colin and Kristin Taylor, Logan Square
Our home buying adventures with Stephanie started almost 2 years ago. In the fall of 2009, John found out he could transfer with his current employer from St. Louis to Chicago. Stephanie was working with a different real estate company at the time, but still had the professionalism, resources, and knowledge we were looking for. Instead of just showing us one apartment, she set us up with the MLS listing database and sent over potential properties that met our criteria (area, number of bedrooms, price, etc) Since we were new to the city of Chicago, the options were overwhelming. Stephanie helped to focus our search. We were going to be in Chicago for a weekend and decided to make a day of looking at apartments. The morning was spent looking on our own and the afternoon was spent looking at about 8 different places with Stephanie. At the end of the day, we found our apartment! It had everything we were looking for, but was priced a little high. Thankfully, Stephanie has excellent negotiation skills! She was able to negotiate rent down by $200 per month! All of these items made Stephanie the first (and only) person that came to mind when we were ready to start looking at houses. During the 1.5 years of living in our apartment, Stephanie started working with Dream Town and kept in contact with us. By the end of 2010, we had started to do our homework and knew we were ready to start taking the search a little more seriously. We met with Stephanie at the Dream Town office in Lincoln Square in January 2011. Even before our meeting, she had us back on the MLS listings and sent over properties based on our skeletal requirements. At the office, Stephanie explained the whole home search and buying process. We also discussed our search criteria in more detail over in-house brewed espresso. It's crazy to think that we we started the search in January, made one offer in March, closed in April, and moved in May! Though it's not that crazy considering we had an expert on our team. Stephanie got to know us, our wants, and our needs. She was also able to interpret our reactions to some of the less than desirable properties we saw. Stephanie was available to walk us through the complex process of making an offer, negotiating inspection points, and hammering out the final closing documents. She skillfully answered every single question or knew who to ask. It also helped that Stephanie has her own team of experts (lender, real estate lawyer, and inspector). John and I can't thank Stephanie enough for her help in making our dream a reality. Real estate is more than just her job, it's her passion. On the day of our closing, Stephanie gave us a gift. The personal touch made all the difference. I'm not compensated to share my review of Stephanie or publicize her seminar. I just think she's a fantastic resource and excellent real estate agent. Plus, she's a prime example of knowing when to bring in an expert. -John and Cathy Derus, LaGrange Park, IL
I purchased my first home this past November, and I couldn't have found a better realtor- Steph Sullivan. She is absolutely amazing. Overall, she is a very trustworthy, thorough, knowledgable, kind realtor- and also a great negotiator! I would really recommend her to any homebuyer, as she will really put in the time with you and help you find the perfect home. Not only that, she'll continue to help you along even after you've closed! Here's a little summary about my experience: I began my home search over a year ago, and she answered every little question I had. When I decided I was finally serious about buying a home, Steph sat me down and walked me through every step of the way. She explained the process of homebuying and helped me set my expectations. Then the search began. She sorted through all the listings based on my criteria. I also did the same, and we would sit down and talk about each listing that either of us thought would be a good fit. We saw about 10 places on our first outing. She helped point out the positives/negatives about each place right after we left so it would be fresh in our minds. Afterwards, I narrowed it down to three places. Then the real analysis came. She sent me comparables, market research, and answered every question I got. I had a lot of questions... let's just say she was patient with me! She made sure the other agents were prompt at getting answers to me. Then came my first disappointment- I was in the negotiating process with a seller. It turns out the seller was really irrational and I decided to walk away. You would think Steph would be really frustrated with me, but she wasn't. She understood. We started from scratch again. We went out and saw another 8-10 properties. She was on vacation for a few days when I wanted to look at these properties. I told her I could just wait. But she insisted that I shouldn't and had her trustworthy co-worker go with me. She really is persistent! And I'm glad she was because I really fell in love with the condo I saw. We began negotiating and things went along smoothly. She got me a really great deal on the purchase, and made sure I got the best deal possible. She really wouldn't settle for less! She recommended a great lawyer (Dana Siragusa). And after 2 or 3 delays due to lender issues, I finally closed on my first home. Even after, she checked in with me every few days to make sure everything was going alright. She even sent me how-to videos when I didn't know how to work the water heater! I closed 4 months ago, and she still checks in every once in a while to see how everything is. She truly is a wonderful realtor, and someone I now consider as a friend. It's great to not only have an amazing realtor, but someone you can get along with- because you will spend A LOT of time with your realtor! Steph will go the extra mile for you, and that's really what you need in your home buying experience! Stephanie, Lakeview
Stephanie Sullivan came as a recommendation from a friend, and I can't imagine going through the process of purchasing a condo without her help. She made the entire process as painless as possible and went above and beyond in order to make me feel comfortable. She was extremely responsive to any questions I had (sometimes responding to email or calls within the hour), was very informative, and helped guide me through a difficult loan and closing process. She personally went out of her way to help push my offer through, and to make sure that everything ran according to schedule since our time-frame was short and I needed to move out of my apartment within 2-3 months. It was overwhelming at times as a first-time homebuyer, and I cannot stress how invaluable Stephanie was as a realtor and as support. I ended up with a condo I couldn't have even imagined was within my budget thanks to Stephanie. She was a pleasure to work with, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to purchase a home. Jacqui Gu, Rogers Park
Stephanie was of INVALUABLE aid in finding and securing my new condo for me. She was with me every step of the way and I am very happy in my new place! Please don't hesitate to make use of Stephanie's talents!!!Sanford Elias
I recently purchased a condo with the help of Dream Town Realtor, Stephanie Sullivan. She did an amazing job of guiding me along through this long process. She was extremely organized when identifying potential properties and was available at all times with answers to my questions. She displayed excellent knowledge of the market and was able to efficiently identify the properties that fit my interest. She made wonderful referrals for home inspection, attorney, and lender that allowed the whole process to be successful. When I ran into trouble with my original lender, she personally helped me find another lender who could cater to my unique financial situation. She was very honest and thorough in helping me negotiate with the sellers highlighting all the pertinent issues. Coming from out of state, I was impressed with how often she went out of her way to help whenever she could, no matter how big or how small the issue was. She continued to fight for my best interest all the way until the end, even at the closing table. She continued to offer help even after I moved into my unit. I would highly recommend Stephanie Sullivan to anyone looking to purchase or sell a home.Jimmy Jiang, Hyde Park
My wife and I would like to thank you very much for all your help in finding and closing on the condo unit at Park Millenium. All throughout the process, you have consistently been very nice, very responsive, highly efficient, and very knowledgeable. We especially appreciate the fact that you communicated with us very effectively by email or by phone. You responded to our issues and queries in a timely fashion. Even though it was not necessarily your job, you helped explain many of the complexities of the process that we had difficulty understanding the explanations of the banker or the attorney. You also very effectively and professionally acted as liaison between us and the other parties involved (lender, attorney, and seller). We felt that you were our adviser and ally all throughout this complex process. Most importantly, you played a crucial role in helping us finally close on the unit. If it were not for your diligent research and quick thinking, we would not have found our alternate lender in a timely fashion that led to completion of the purchase. We were very impressed by the amount of time you dedicated to our case and your diligence in finding answers and solutions to the challenges that were presented to us through this process. You made us feel like we were the only ones you were working for, although obviously you have more clients than just us. This is very important and reassuring for investors like us who live out of state. By being so, you did not just make a sale but you built a strong relationship that we're sure will last a long, long time. In fact, we were glad that you also agreed to help us rent out the unit that we just bought. For our future real estate purchases in Illinois, you will definitely be our go-to person to help us find our next investment property. Best of luck to you in all your endeavors. Once again, thank you very much.Regards,Terence and Josephine Angtuaco
Being a first time homebuyer, I was overwhelmed by the prospect of jumping into the real estate market. Stephanie was not only incredibly easy to talk to; she's trustworthy, honest and has a wealth of experience and knowledge. When we found the perfect home, we were afraid that it would be beyond our means. Stephanie came up with creative solutions to stay within our budget and she never let us give up even after our first offer was rejected - she continually came up with solutions as to how we could make things work. We not only ended up with the house of our dreams, but we stayed well within our financial means. She continually went the extra mile for us, helping to sublet our apartment so that we could move into our new house without any loose ends. There are so many people involved in the home buying process and we had some suggestions from friends for inspectors and lawyers, but ultimately went with Stephanie's referrals and couldn't have been happier. Buying my first home was an incredible experience because I had Stephanie with me every step of the way; I can't imagine what I would have done without her!Kate Cares, Logan Square
