Summer is here with plenty of opportunities to explore different communities, enjoy music and food at festivals, and discover new cultural opportunities. Here’s a round-up of five activities that we found most interesting for you this week!

Not Just for Kids!

Join A Nationwide Movement

Every year, Ms. Opal Lee hosts an annual 2.5 mile walk to recognize the 2.5 years it took for the news of freedom to reach all enslaved people in the US. Now a nationwide event, Evanston is an official host city for the 2022 Opal’s Walk for Freedom. Join your community for a campaign showcasing the unifying impact of Juneteenth.

Take a Tour of Skokie’s Sculpture Park

This month at the Sculpture Park, join friendly docents on a tour of Section IV, featuring the park’s most eclectic and varied sculptures. The tour is about one hour long, wheelchair accessible, and everybody (including pets!) is welcome.

Experience the Passion of Spanish Dance

Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater brings their annual American Spanish Dance & Music Festival to Skokie’s North Shore Center. Forty leading dancers, singers, musicians, and guest artists bring the magic of Spain to Chicagoland through their fusion of traditional and classical performances.
