Summer is here with plenty of opportunities to explore different communities, enjoy music and food at festivals, and discover new cultural opportunities. Here’s a round-up of five activities that we found most interesting for you this week!

Mamma Mia, Here We Go to Ravinia Again!

No, they’re not the holograms in London, they’re the real (cover band) deal! Get your dancing queen shoes on and lay all your love on ABBA The Concert. Playing the most iconic ABBA hits and dazzling with their fantastic performances, this is one tribute concert you won’t want to miss.

Celebrate Fourth of July in Northbrook

Northbrook’s festivities begin at 7:30am with the Rotary Club’s annual Breakfast at Village Green Park. Then walk off those pancakes at the Liberty Lap Fun Run at 8:30 before cheering on the Police vs. Firefighters Softball game at 10:00am. Don’t forget the Northbrook parade at 2:30 featuring local Olympic silver medalist Jesse Compher!

See the Fireworks…in 3-D!

OK, we’re not sure what it means, either. But with 3-D fireworks glasses being distributed to the first 10,000 visitors, we want to find out! Of course, there’s lots of other activities to do around the fireworks, with face painting, family games, and performances by The Empty Pockets and 7th Heaven.

Join a Unique Independence Day Tradition 

The Yankee Doodle Dash 5K is a chance to run/walk a 3.1-mile course through the historic streets of Wilmette. Patriotic outfits are encouraged, and some people go all out with their 1776 costumes. It’s a sight to behold whether you’re racing, walking, or cheering on from the sidelines.

Spend Two Days Celebrating Independence in Glencoe

Glencoe knows how to do July 4th right by starting on July 3rd! Party in the Park at the lakefront with games, inflatables, live music, food, and fireworks, then cheer on the annual Rotary Fun Run on July 4th morning, before enjoying family games at Kalk Park. It’s all here, with something literally for everyone.
