Chicago Public Schools incorporates over 480 elementary and 115 high schools (which include magnate, special ed, alternative and gifted facilities, among others), and about two dozen charter schools (which house both elementary and upper level campuses). Selecting the right school for your child is sometimes as important as finding that perfect home, so perhaps it pays to learn a little about the area's education opportunities before closing on the house. Andersen, Elem Community Acad teaches grades PK to 08. In addition to the core academic curriculum, students get the chance to participate in both B&A school activities and intramural athletic programs. Drop your young scholars off prior to the day's start, or let them stay after the last bell rings for some fun with classmates at the various before/after school programs and/or athletic programs. Just because the kids are involved in interests outside the classroom doesn't mean they aren't pulling their weight in those traditional studies, too. In fact, 61.7% of Andersen, Elem Community Acad students are meeting or exceeding the state reading standards; 70.8% are fulfilling or surpassing the Illinois standard for mathematics; and 56.5% are achieving or going one better than the average for science studies.
