Landscape Design and Floral Fashion

Spring may be a few months off, but landscape designers already have some bright ideas to make your 2018 flower gardens as vibrant as your home interiors.

SHADES FOR SPRING

Garden trend watchers feel confident that 2018’s flowers of choice will be purple, or robust shades of orange (such as mango).

COLOR-BLOCKING

Inspired in part by the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, this technique involves pairing blooms that sit opposite each other on the color wheel. Consider pairing purple hyacinth and yellow daffodils, or blue hydrangeas next to orange marigolds.

TRIOS

Flowers such as tulips and hyacinths grow in several different shades. Try planting three different colors in the same plot to produce a gorgeous display.
