Highest Priced Chicago Home Sale in ‘09

Chicago’s most expensive home sale so far this year was sold in August by Christine Carr of Dream Town. The 17-room mansion in Lincoln Park went for $5.6 million after 56 days on the market. It is the highest price paid in 2009 for a residential property within the City of Chicago.
The 12,000 sq. ft. single-family home sits on an oversized lot in an exclusive section of the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The custom floor plan includes a home theater, large wine cellar, gaming room, library, entry gallery, bar, huge family room, and a deluxe penthouse roof deck. The house is equipped with an elevator and has a four-car attached garage, plus a state-of-the art security/electronics system and top-of-the-line interior finishes.
Runners up for top-dollar 2009 home sales in Chicago include two other single-family residences, also in Lincoln Park, that sold for $5.1 million in March and $4.4 million in April.
Dream Town has developed its own Luxury Sales Division to handle transactions over $750,000. The August edition of Dream Town’s luxury listings includes several notable properties, including a Keck House original (2939 W Catalpa) and a custom design by William Ketchum of renowned VOA architects (2725 N Kenmore).
