LEED-certified Chicago Condos Part III

Chicago is already known as a green city -- just look at all the parkland and undeveloped shoreline along Lake Michigan! Sprawling grass-covered areas and pristine beaches are the ultimate outdoor luxury when you live in a big metropolis. However these days, city dwellers aspire to maintain the "total green lifestyle," which includes everything from recycling their bottles and cardboard boxes to buying a home that conforms to eco-friendly standards.

In the last couple entries you were introduced to Eco18 and 340 on The Park, two residential buildings that are providing Chicagoans with the opportunity to live the "Green Dream." Another development with the same idea is Lexington Park, a condominium tower and loft construction located next to the McCormick Center in the South Loop neighborhood.

Lexington Park will provide homeowners with a mix of condos and lofts when it is completed in 2009. The unique, two-section construction houses a 35-story condominium with 297 units connected by retail storefronts and a parking garage to a seven-floor building with 36 lofts. Developers of Lexington Park have designed the complex with LEED accreditation in mind. The new residence will have a building-wide recycling system with specialized disposable chutes that separate waste collection from recyclables with the push of a button. Energy-saving features, a green roof, low-VOC paint products, low-flow toilets, and eco-friendly bamboo floors are also part of the plan for Lexington Park condos and lofts.

Lexington Park residences offer homebuyers one- and two-bedroom units with up to two parking spaces. Prices are listed between the low-$200,000s and the low-$500,000s. The complex may not be ready for move-in for another couple years, but now is the time to secure your spot in this environmentally-conscious, ultra-modern city homestead.

The roll call of LEED-certified Chicago condos continues next time ...  Don’t miss it!
