Dream Town's New LGBT Division Ensures Pride of Ownership

Dream Town’s definition of family has always been inclusive—and now we’re making it official. With the launch of the Dream Town LGBT Client Services Division, we’re supporting the unique needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender home buyers and sellers.

With all the excitement around the new Marriage Equality law taking effect in Illinois, we are hearing there is also a great deal of confusion among same-sex couples around their newly-won real estate rights and responsibilities. Among other things, with the new law comes different financing options, ways ownership can be transferred, and tax implications.

Our brand new online resource portal at www.dreamtown.com/lgbt offers a cornucopia of free, valuable information for members of the LGBT community exploring the purchase or sale of real estate. Find answers to a myriad of questions, access videos and literature from third-party resources like HUD and the IRS, learn about upcoming community outreach events, and meet one of our highly-awarded consultants—all of whom are committed to staying abreast of issues facing our LGBT clients. What’s more, while tapping into all of these resources, visitors will have direct access to the award-winning www.dreamtown.com site featuring our powerful real estate search engine, neighborhood guide and Chicago building directory.

And that is just the beginning! Dream Town will be hosting events over the coming months—starting with an informational panel discussion with tax lawyers, mortgage specialists, real estate authorities, and community leaders to answer questions concerning the LGBT community about buying and selling a home. The event will take place on April 26 from 1-4pm at the Center on Halsted. RSVP online at www.dreamtown.com/lgbt.

Dream Town’s initiative is the first of its kind in the nation. We hope to set a trend that will empower all same-sex couples in Chicago and beyond to seek the American dream of homeownership. And we are being recognized for this. Just this past Friday, news of our ground-breaking initiative broke in the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s with kudos coming from across the nation.
