Dream Town First to Offer Real Estate Deal through Groupon

Groupon is featuring a new real estate offer from Dream Town: For $25 you get $1,000 cash when you buy or sell a home in the next 12 months with Dream Town.

This is the nation’s first-ever Groupon for real estate and it’s making big news. Every media outlet from the Chicago Tribune to WBBM radio to Channel 5 News has picked up this story. There has never been a Groupon deal like this before and Dream Town is pioneering the way for future home buying and home selling offers.

If you’re not familiar with Groupon, they negotiate big discounts with local businesses and pass along the deals to consumers. Once a preset minimum number of people sign up for the Groupon, the deal “is on.” Dream Town hit its minimum of 50 purchases on the first day!

The deal is just for new Dream Town clients (sorry, past and current clients are not eligible). Sellers must list their homes with Dream Town by April 9, 2012 and buyers must close on their properties and redeem their coupons by that same date to get the $1,000. In both cases, a minimum transaction of $150,000 is required.

    That’s quite phenomenal! I heard about the Groupon deal through the grapevine and I was wondering how you could possibly use Groupon for real estate. Have you seen a fair amount of success so far with this strategy?

    We are going to try a similar deal for buyers in Fort Wayne. We are looking into the Fort Wayne Real Estate laws right now to determine how best to go about this. The results sound very promising.
